Gitpod is now Ona — gitpod.io/pricing redirects to ona.com. Its Core plan is multi-tenant AWS; running in your own VPC is an Enterprise feature.
Where we win
- Self-hosting is not gated behind an enterprise tier — the Docker and Hetzner providers are the ordinary path, not an upsell.
- Hetzner Cloud as a first-class provider, which is a materially cheaper and EU-resident substrate than multi-tenant AWS.
Where Ona (formerly Gitpod) wins
- A far more complete product: prebuilds, warm pools for instant starts, GPU support, and machines up to 32 cores / 128 GB RAM / 200 GB disk.
- Published, self-serve pricing from $20/month with 80–2,200 compute units, and up to 100 team members on the Core plan.
- SSO/OIDC, org-wide secrets, audit trails and SLAs on Enterprise — none of which Forge Cloud Dev offers today.

- Ona Core is multi-tenant AWS. If that is acceptable, its feature depth is well ahead; if it is not, its own-VPC option starts at Enterprise.
